  • Mental Health The School Counselor and Student Mental Health

    May is Mental Health Awareness Month. School counselors recognize and respond to the need for mental health and behavioral prevention, early intervention and crisis services that promote psychosocial wellness and development for all students. School counselors are prepared to address barriers and to assess ways to maximize students’ success in schools, communities and their family structure by offering education, prevention, and crisis and short-term intervention until the student is connected with available community resources.

  • Brown and Burgin APS Announces 2016 Principal and Teacher of the Year
    Arlington Public Schools announced that McKinley Elementary School Principal Colin Brown and Oakridge Elementary School teacher Jennifer Burgin have been named the 2016 APS Principal of the Year and Teacher of the Year. Brown and Burgin along with the 2016 Support Employees of the Year will be recognized by the School Board at 7:30 p.m. on Wed, May 18 at Washington-Lee High School.
