School Board Hears Results of State Efficiency Review
CIP and Teacher Evaluation Revisions Presented

Representatives from Virginia’s Department of Finance and Budget and the Gibson Consulting Group presented the results of a State Efficiency Review at last night’s School Board Meeting. The report highlights the efficiency of APS operations and presents a mix of commendations and recommendations.

The presentation is available on BoardDocs and the full report is available on the Virginia Department of Education website.

Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy presented the proposed FY2013 – FY 2022 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The proposed CIP totals $537,713,066 and includes funding for three additions at elementary schools plus construction of two new elementary schools.

Staff also presented proposed revisions to School Board Policy 35-7.2 T-Scale Evaluation. The revision was required by new state regulations requiring student academic progress be included as a factor in evaluations.

The meeting began with the recognition Henry’s Dr. Lisa Piehota, the 2012 APS Principal of the Year.

More information on the above items can be found on BoardDocs.

Citizens who want to comment on any of the items discussed at the May 10 School Board meeting should contact the Board at school.board@apsva.us or call 703-228-6015.
