    Our meeting May 14  was successful in presenting a full slate for the 2013-2014 Gunston PTA.

    The nominees are :

    Thank you to the nominating committee for pulling all these people together.   A big thank you to the volunteers.  It takes a lot to have a successful PTA.  Thank you to all of current officers for all your efforts.  Our year is not over and we still have to pass the torch once our slate is voted on.

  • Hosts Needed: Arlington-Coyoacán México Sister City High School Exchange

    Arlington-Coyoacán México Sister City High School Exchange

    Wanted: 5-6 host families for our 6th grade exchange students visiting from Coyoacan, Mexico. They will be here the week of June 8th-15th. A fun filled week of events will be planned.  
     
    Attached is an FAQ about hosting an exchange student as well as an application form. If interested, please complete the application and place in PTA mailbox, attn: Catherine Giacomo.

    Exploring the Impact of Social and Electronic Media on Children
    Thursday, March 14, 2013:  6:30pm to 8:00pm
    Arlington Public Schools (APS) Education Center, Rooms 101-102
    1426 N. Quincy Street, Arlington, VA 22207

    This informative session will provide a historical and current overview of various forms of media and their influence on children. Information about television, smartphones, the internet, video games, and social networks such as Facebook and Twitter will be featured.  In addition, there will be valuable information from our APS Library Media Department regarding APS district policies, procedures, and safeguards currently in place to support safe use of media in schools, as well as recommendations and resources for parents.

    Simultaneous Spanish language interpretation will be available, and light refreshments will be provided.

    Registration assists in planning for adequate space and materials, and is requested.  Please registeronline, via e-mail to reta.badey@apsva.us, or call 703-228-6061.

    Please come to Gunston PTA's Biggest Fundraiser, the Silent Auction. It will be held this Saturday, February 23rd from 6pm to 10pm at the NRECA ballroom, 4301 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, across from Macy' s in Ballston.
     
    The Gunston Auction Catalog has been updated and is full of wonderful prizes to big on.

    Please come to Gunston PTA's Biggest Fundraiser, the Silent Auction.
    It will be held this Saturday, February 23rd from 6pm to 10pm at the
    NRECA ballroom, 4301 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, across from Macy' s in
    Ballston.
    Again, Doors Open at 6:00 p.m.  Website states 6:30, but that's when bidding begins
    and will close shortly...  So come to eat, drink, socialize and search out how YOU will 
    support your school...  Theme: Carnaval!
    Tickets of $10, available at the door, includes admission into the event, dinner and bidder
    number. Dress is casual.  Adults only event.  Invite Friends and Spread the Word!

  • La Subasta Silenciosa de Gunston - Necesitamos los voluntarios

    La Subasta Silenciosa de Gunston es el Sábado, 23 de febrero 2013.  Necesitamos los voluntarios para las siguientes actividades:

    1. Venta de boletos para la rifa.  Cuand  la próxima semana durante el almuerzo en Gunston
    2. Transporte de los artículos de la subasta al edificio NRECA.  Cuand el próximo viernes
    3. Ayuda para la decoracion y exhibicion de los articulos para el día de la subasta
    4. Ayuda con el registro y la clausura del evento,  recoger hojas de oferta, y la venta de boletos para la rifa.  Ayuda con limpieza al terminar la subasta silenciosa

  • Volunteers Needed for Gunston Silent Auction

    The Gunston Silent Auction is Saturday, February 23, 2013. We need VOLUNTEERS to:

    1. Sell raffle tickets at Gunston during lunch!
    2. Transport auction items from Gunston to the NRECA building next Friday!
    3. Help set-up and decorate on the day of the silent auction!
    4. Help check-in, check-out, collect bid sheets, sell raffle tickets and clean-up the night of the silent auction!
