Glebe is an important part of the North Glebe Road community between Lee Highway, Washington Boulevard, Fairfax Drive and North Quincy Street. This location allows the school to celebrate Arlington's rich cultural diversity. Glebe's student population, 61 percent white, 17 percent Hispanic, 8 percent African-American and 9percent Asian, closely reflects that of Arlington.

Glebe's teaching staff believes in and implements techniques that encourage active learning. Students are engaged in hands-on activities in all curricular areas. Math instruction is centered around exploration and the use of manipulatives to learn and apply concepts. Language arts instruction focuses on the interrelation of reading and writing. Teachers use literature books of all genres as the focal point of language arts instruction. Science experiments center around the scientific method and social studies units are supported by the use of the Internet. From the moment students enter Glebe's doors, they become directly involved in their learning.

Glebe is a Foreign Language Elementary School. All Glebe students attend Spanish class three times a week. In addition to learning Spanish language orally and in writing, students learn about the culture and arts of the Spanish-speaking countries. Students and families at Glebe also participate in our exemplary project called S.M.Art Project. S.M.Art stands for science, math, art and technology. The key concept behind the project is the teaching of aspects of the students' math and science curriculum through integration and engagement with a modern art form, visual art, dance, music, or theatre.
