    Session on recognizing concerns commonly seen in preschool and elementary children, and when and where to seek help. A multi-disciplinary panel will address developmental, academic, behavioral and social/emotional concerns, and the range of supports available to students and their families within the schools.

 Drew Model School Counseling Program

 
The primary focus of counseling and guidance programs at the elementary level is prevention.  Our goal is to help empower  our students with the self-knowledge, coping, and life skills that will enable them to become self-directed learners, clear and effective communicators, creative problem solvers, collaborative workers, and involved, responsible citizens of our community.
 
Drew Model School Counseling Program is comprised of four major program components:
  • Counseling Curriculum
  • Individual  Student Planning
  • Responsive Services
  • System support 

Counseling Curriculum:  A structured developmental lesson designed to assist students in achieving the competencies and is presented systematically through classroom and group activities.

  

Individual Student Planning:  School Counselors coordinating ongoing systemic activities designed to assist the individual student in establishing personal goals and developing future plans.

 

Responsive Services:  Activities that meet students’, parents’ and teachers’ immediate need for referral, consultation or information.

  

System support:  Professional development, consultation, collaboration, and teaming, and program management and operation activities that establish, maintain, and enhance the total school counseling program.
