PreK-1 Fitness Activities

Campbell's Physical Education staff is comprised of two highly qualified teachers: Mr. Spierenburg and Ms. Cuba.

All students at Campbell Elementary School receive physical education instruction for at least an hour every week by a certified physical education teacher. Pre-K and K/1 students receive 30 minutes twice a week and grade 2/3/4/5 students receive 45 minutes twice a week.

This year a variety of skills will be covered. Primary grades will focus on developing a strong foundation of gross motor skills through skill building activities, challenges, and modified games. Upper grade students will be expanding on their skill base by developing more mature and complex skills and learning basic rules and strategies of game play. Gross motor skills are taught through a multitude of developmentally appropriate non-competitive class activities, including individual, partner, small group, and large group work.

Students are given many opportunities to make choices, challenge themselves, and practice their skills during class activities. Teamwork, good sportsmanship, and safety are considered important elements of every unit taught. To see a more detailed plan of what your child will be doing, click here.
