  • Fresh Fruit Friday

Posted by Fred Delventhal at 9/28/2012

Today's kick-off of Fresh Fuit Friday was amazing!  Barrett's PTA distributed fresh apples to students, teachers and parents.   Our very own Chris Dinan dressed up as a banana and reminded and encouraged students to bring fresh fruit on Fridays and make healthy choices.

  • APS Operations and Communications During Emergency

Posted by Fred Delventhal at 9/18/2012
APS Operations and Communications During Emergency
Because the National Weather Service has issued severe weather forecasts for later today in our region, we want to remind all APS families about our normal process to notify families when there are changes to the normal state of operations for the Arlington Public Schools.
    ·
Notices about cancellations of after school or evening activities or other changes are communicated via APS School Talk. In addition, schools may also communicate with families about individual school activities via School Talk.
    ·
Any Transportation Services changes or disruptions of service are also communicated to families via School Talk. If the change only impacts a specific bus route, the information is communicated via School Talk to the families of the students on that bus route.
    ·
All School Talk notices are also posted online on the "Emergency" status page, and the information is recorded on the APS Hotline in English and Spanish. The hotline number is 1-866-322-4277.
    ·
In the event of extreme or severe weather at dismissal time, buses may be delayed or students may be held at schools to ensure their safety.
School officials are coordinating decisions in cooperation with the Arlington County Office of Emergency Management.
