Congratulations to our eight Odyssey of the Mind teams that participated with over 100 other elementary school teams in the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition on March 2. Barrett sent three fifth grade teams, a fourth grade team, a team of third and fourth graders, a third grade team, and two second grade teams. Two of our fifth grade teams were awarded third place in their respective divisions, and a fifth grade team and a third grade team each were awarded fourth place in their divisions. The teams developed scripts and characters, made their own props and costumes, and practiced diligently on their creative performances over the past several months. Each of the teams received compliments from the judges and should be extremely proud of their accomplishments. Odyssey is an annual competition, so we hope to have at least eight teams participating next year!

WTG!
Barrett Elementary is thrilled to announce that we have been selected to attend a NASA Explorer School conference at Kennedy Space Center in Florida! This was due to our outstanding work on an engineering design challenge based on Newton's Laws of Motion. A group of 5th graders worked with Renee Shaw, Wendy Cohen, and Allyson Greene to develop a sports-based game for astronauts aboard the International Space Station to play. Students participated in a virtual symposium where they presented their work via videoconference. As a result, we were awarded with an invitation for two students and one teacher to attend the national NES Student Symposium at the Kennedy Space Center! N.C. and H.T. will represent Barrett at KSC in May!
