Mission and Policies

Our Mission
The goal of the Nottingham's library staff is to enrich and extend the classroom curriculum, teach students how to be informed consumers and producers of information, and expose the school community to a diverse range of high quality reading material. We welcome students, staff, and parents to the library and hope they take advantage of its many resources. We strive to create a community of enthusiastic learners and readers.

Our Policies
Nottingham students visit the library at least once a week for book check out. If students have the maximum number of books checked out to them on the day that their class visits the library and do not return any books, they will not be able to check out more books. We are happy to “hold” books that students want until their books come back. While we encourage students to borrow books from the library, we also want them to learn to return books so that others may enjoy them. We do not charge overdue fees for books; however, there is a replacement fee if books are lost or damaged. As long as library staff is in the library, normally 8:30 a.m. until 4:15 p.m., and not with a class, students are more than welcome to return and check out books.

  • Kindergarten and first grade students may check out a maximum of 2 books.
  • Second through fifth grade students may check out a maximum of 3 books.
