Randolph Elementary School is a neighborhood school implementing the Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate (PYP IB).
Randolph teachers and students are participating in the Japanese Friendship Dolls project. Partnering with Sakae Elementary School, in Nagano Japan, in December, they sent a package including a “Virginia” doll, a book, a friendship passport and a binder with letters and photographs from students in grades kindergarten through 5th. The Virginia doll now sits in the entryway of the school where she is greeted every day by the students of Sakae Elementary.
In return, Randolph recently received a special delivery from Sakae Elementary. The package included a beautiful doll, named Miss Sakae, a friendship passport, letters and photographs from the children in Nagano, and 120 origami cranes.
