Barrett PTA Welcome Letter
Dear Barrett Families,
On behalf of the K.W. Barrett Parent Teacher Association (PTA), I am delighted to welcome you to the 2012-2013 school-year! Barrett is an extraordinary school with a fantastic team of teachers and administrators, but they cannot educate our children alone. As parents, we all want the absolute best education for our children. Studies show that children excel when parents and guardians are actively involved in their children's education -- grades go up, test scores are higher, and self-esteem grows. I invite you to get involved with the Barrett PTA. It really does make a difference!
The Barrett PTA supports a quality educational experience. We champion Technology by helping to purchase Smartboards and iPads used in every classroom throughout the school. We support education by providing teachers with funds for books and classroom materials to benefit our children. The PTA funds Field Trips, children’s author visits (Ralph Fletcher is coming this year!), visits by guest educators, and special events to enrich our children’s passion for learning and reading. This year we are excited to support our new “Go Green” initiative building on our children’s passion for the outdoors and the environment, as well as our new Health and Wellness initiative which will include Family Gym Night, Ice Skating, and so much more!
Come join us for our next PTA meeting on Tuesday, June 4th at 7 p.m. in the Barrett Library to learn more about Barrett and the many ways you can get involved! Child care is provided.
Barrett is an extraordinary community with a great reputation for parental involvement and we hope to continue this important tradition! I look forward to working with you this year to support our school!

Queridas Familias de Barrett,
En nombre de la Asociación de Padres y Maestros de la Escuela Barrett, me complace darles la bienvenida al año 2012-2013! Barrett es una escuela extraordinaria con un equipo fantástico de maestros y administradores, pero ellos no pueden educar a nuestros hijos solos. Como padres de familia, todos queremos la mejor educación para nuestros hijos. Los estudios han demostrado que los niños rinden mejor cuando sus familias están involucradas activamente en su educación – sus notas son más altas, sus examenes mejoran, y su auto-estima aumenta. Los invito a ser parte activa de la PTA. Realmente hace una diferencia!
La PTA de Barrett apoya una experiencia educativa de calidad. Apoyamos la Tecnología ayudando a comprar Tableros Inteligentes y iPads para cada salón de clase. Apoyamos la educación dando fondos a los maestros para libros y materials de enseñanza que benefician a nuestros niños. Tambien damos fondos para los paseos y excursiones de las clases, visitas de autores (Ralph Fletcher vendrá este año!), y eventos especiales que enriquecen la lectura y el aprendizaje. Este año lanzaremos nuestra nueva iniciativa “Viva Verde” para fomentar la pasión de nuestros niños por las actividades al aire libre y por el medio ambiente, como tanmbién nuestra nueva iniciativa Salud y Bienestar que incluirá las Noches de Gimnasio y de Patinaje en el Hielo.
Barrett es una comunidad extraordinaria con una gran reputación de participación familiar y esperamos continuar esta importante tradición! Me encantará trabajar con ustedes este año por la educación de nuestros hijos!
