Ms. Swissman is very excited to be part of the third grade team! She is originally from New Jersey and has always wanted to be a teacher. Attending college at the University of Maryland, Ms. Swissman graduated with degrees in Elementary Education & Psychology. Immediately following graduation, she moved to Arlington and fell in love with Virginia and the DC area! When Ms. Swissman is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, running, reading, and going to the beach. Ms. Swissman is very excited to be at Patrick Henry and is looking forward to a fantastic year of learning with her third graders
Hello! I am thrilled to be teaching third grade at Patrick Henry again this year! Third grade is very special to me because that's the year I moved with my family from Cairo, Egypt to Los Angeles, California. I hope third grade will be very memorable for all of you too! I attended U.C. Berkeley (go bears!) and when I decided I wanted to be a teacher, I moved to New York to attend Teachers College at Columbia University for my Master's Degree. I have taught in California, New York and Virginia and have loved all three states. I now live in Arlington, VA with my husband. When I am not at school you can find me reading, writing (or meeting my writing group to talk about writing), hiking and traveling. I can't wait to explore third grade with you all!
I grew up in Rochester, NY where I graduated from SUNY Brockport with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. I received my Masters degree in Literacy with an additional certification in Special Education from St. John Fisher College. In my free time I enjoy reading, exercising and playing softball. My favorite team is the Mets! I am excited to be joining the Patrick Henry family.
