The course provides tools and materials for a conceptual core of computational thinking, problem solving, and computer programming. This course is the foundation for next year Advanced Placement –AP- Computer Science.The course involves individual programming projects, case studies, hands-on practices, quizzes, and tests.
Students will move from Scratch programming to text-based world of Eclipse IDE, an environment that supports Java programming language. Scratch is a programming tool developed by MIT labs. Eclipse program is used as an Integrated Development Environment –IDE- to write, compile, debug, and execute text-base programs. Students need home computer, online access, Scratch and Java compiler installed. Additionally, student must install student disk from text book publisher provided later in class.
